Description Waffle (in Foster)
Waffle
Who doesn't like a waffle? I'm here to let you know that I'm as sweet as the syrup you pour on your waffles. My orange and white coat inspired my name. I'm fluffy, not stuffy, with a friendly, outgoing personality. My original owner surrendered me to HSHC in 2021 because he was moving. I was adopted a month later but was returned in March 2025. Near the end of April, I moved into a foster home to give me a break. Now, I am 11-years-old and getting a little worried about my future. My interview is the only way of letting the public know I'm available. That is why I let the interviewer lady (IL) visit me and hear my story. She and I got along like peanut butter and jelly. My foster mom (FM) told the IL the following facts she has learned about me. I love being near you, and I love pets!! I'm not a fan of being hugged or picked up, but I will let you. It takes me a while to get comfortable with you or the environment, and I can be easily scared. I enjoy having a good conversation with you if you start talking to me. I will reach out to you when I want attention or food. I am neutered and litterbox trained, but I require a high-sided box because my aim is not always perfect. I am a fairly independent cat who enjoys alone time, but I'm always happy to hang out with my human. When you lie on the couch or in bed, I will mosey up there to lie with you. I have learned that sleeping at the end of the bed is fine, but sleeping by my FM's head is fantastic! Downers include having my toes touched or poked, loud noises, unexpected movements, and being around young, high-energy cats. My favorite things are relaxing with occasional zoomies, being an indoor cat (it's wild out of doors!), greenie treats, stuffed mice, jingle ball toys, and kitty tunnels. Oh, and I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but I'm a counter-surfer when it comes to food! The medical staff reported that I tested positive for FIV. FIV is a virus found only in cats that can weaken a cat's immune system. However, I can live a long, happy life [even with FIV-negative cats] with regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle.] It's no big deal. The IL told me about her FIV+ cat, who lived to be almost 18. I promise that you won't be able to say "no thanks" to taking me home once you meet me. 7-7-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
