Description Carrie (In Foster)
Carrie
I am an alumnus of HSHC. My brother and I were adopted as adorable kittens in 2018. We were besties until we grew into adults. After that, my brother chased me, pounced on me, and pinned me down, which I hated! I avoided him whenever I could. Then, my family brought home a new kitten without giving me time to adjust to this interloper. One day, we accidentally got trapped in the same room, and I lost my temper with her. No serious injuries occurred, but this sealed my fate. I am now 6-years- old, and whether I like it or not, I have lots of anxiety about any change in my life. I crave predictability, routine, and consistency. Being surrendered to the HSHC in September was a blow to my confidence. Being examined by the medical staff caused me significant stress! Simply being in the shelter with all those cats and new people made me want to curl up in my Kitty Kasa and sleep the day away. Whenever the interviewer lady (IL) came to talk to me, I growled, closed my eyes, or swatted at her. But yesterday, a volunteer opened my door and slowly approached me. I sniffed her and let her touch my head. I don't know if I had felt so alone that I longed to be touched, but I let her pet me, scratch my chin, and rub my cheeks. I hung my head upside down outside the Kasa to allow more pets. The IL witnessed this, and her jaw dropped open! I soon had my fill of attention and gave the volunteer a swat to let her know. The IL thinks I have a chip on my shoulder due to my past, but there is a loveable cat just waiting for the right "cat whisperer" to knock it off! I'm seeking someone who recognizes my good qualities and can help me overcome my shortcomings. I need someone fluent in feline communication skills. I am spayed, litterbox trained, and eager to find a permanent home. 12-4-24

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
