Humane Society for Hamilton County Establishes Reward

Fund--In an effort to find those responsible

for the torture of 4 Cicero family pets--

Noblesville, Ind., August 2, 2008– After the report came out that four cats had been found brutally beaten to death in Cicero yesterday, the outpouring of support and community
outrage made it clear we needed to come together and help find those responsible for this horrible crime.  The Humane Society has now established a reward fund with a seed amount
of $500 that will be paid to the person or persons providing the Cicero Police Department
with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for deaths of
these animals.  The shelter will continue to accept donations for the reward fund as the investigation continues.

“The phones were ringing off the hook at the Humane Society yesterday from those wanting
to know what steps would be taken to find those responsible for the brutal beatings and subsequent deaths of these family pets,” said Rebecca Stevens, executive director of the Humane Society. “The Cicero Police Department is investigating the incident, but we feel that by establishing a reward fund we will be able to encourage anyone with information
regarding those involved in this horrific crime to come forward and help hold those
responsible accountable.”

In 2007, the Humane Society established a reward fund to help find the individual responsible for dumping nine, emaciated and terribly neglected pit bulls in Hamilton County. The reward fund generated the leads that ultimately lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of
Adam McRee.

Those interested in making a donation to the reward fund should contact the Humane Society for Hamilton County at 317-773-4974 or email hamiltonhumane@yahoo.com.  Anyone with information regarding the killings of these Cicero family pets should contact the Cicero Police Department at 317-773-1282.

The mission of the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) is saving lives, educating communities, and completing families.
