Humane Society for Hamilton County
Welcomes New Mascot & Greeter
Noblesville,
Ind. -- The Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) is
pleased to announced that B.B. has joined the organization
as the official mascot and greeter.
In addition to her role as official shelter greeter, B.B.,
which stands for Baby Basset, will participate in
fundraising and education events as she visits Hamilton
County schools teaching children the importance of adoption,
responsible pet ownership, and the prevention of animal
cruelty.
B.B. was discovered on Oct. 14, 2005, as she explored a
Noblesville neighborhood with her parents, Betty and Barney
Basset. A family spotted the family and contacted Hamilton
County Animal Control for assistance. That day, the Bassets
arrived at the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
“B.B. apparently overheard the staff discussing our need
for a new mascot at which time she began lobbying for her
appointment to the position,” said Rebecca Stevens,
executive director of HSHC.
Although B.B. is just a puppy, she’s wise beyond her four
months. Droopy, sad eyes working in tandem with ears she
often trips over made her a shoe-in for the position. Her
ability to play well with others of all species demonstrated
she was a team player and the signature Basset howl released
when she wants her belly rubbed will play a key role in HSHC
fundraising efforts.
B.B. is approximately four months old and was born to Mr.
and Mrs. Barney Basset. Long-time residents of the streets
of Hamilton County, mom and dad are very proud of their
daughter’s accomplishments and new appointment. They were
recently adopted, together, to a wonderful home.
The mission of the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC)
is to provide a compassionate and healthy environment for
the homeless animals in our care until they can be placed
into permanent, loving homes. The HSHC strives to promote
responsible pet ownership and reduce the suffering caused by
pet overpopulation and animal cruelty by offering low cost
spay/neuter solutions and education.
