The shelter is beyond capacity. Due to a sudden increase in owner surrendered pets and strays over the last 2 weeks, we are bursting at the seams. About Woofstock

Woofstock is a festival celebrating the canine-human bond. A dog walk path designed around Verizon Wireless Music Center will certainly give attendees, both 2 and 4-legged, their exercise for the week. Then, sniff and mingle with new friends while listening to live music, visiting exhibitor booths, enjoying great food, and visiting with our featured canine and feline HSHC guests at the Humane Society booth.

Our lovely event emcee and a Pet Star Competition judge will be WRTV News Reporter Jennifer Carmack.

Pet Star 2009

Attendees may enter to win great prizes and claim the title of Pet Star 2009. The competition takes place on the side stage with celebrity judges deciding who walks away with the crown.

Individual and Corporate Team Fundraising

Download the Woofstock Walk Packet

You can help raise desperately needed funds for the animals by collecting pledges for the walk as an individual walker OR by putting together a team. As a team captain you will want to recruit and rally your team to collect pledges.

Walk As An Individual
Send e-mails to your friends and family asking for pledges. Check your progress and follow-up on donations made in your honor. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 individual fundraisers.

Create a Corporate or Organized Team
Do you, your co-workers or perhaps an organization you belong to love animals? Want a great way to build morale, foster team building, and raise visibility for your company or organization- all while helping homeless animals? Then rally your co-workers and friends to pool your fundraising powers and compete for the top team fundraising awards.

On the day of the walk, corporate team members can wear their company or organization t-shirts. The top 3 teams will be awarded trophies and awesome prizes!

Walk for a Specific Animal

We receive so many animals each year who have been seriously injured, abused or neglected or who are suffering from a serious illness.  Perhaps you would like to organize your walk this year in one of their names to help us raise the money needed to cover their medical and general care.

You may walk for any animal you choose, but below is a list of animals we would like to feature who would certainly benefit from your fundraising efforts and increased awareness.  E-mailwoofstockwalk@hamiltonhumane.com to register for the walk and to choose your "team" if walking for a specific animal.

Team Donald & Daisy:  Donald and Daisy have been waiting for homes longer than any other dogs at the shelter.  They arrived at the shelter in February 2008, so it has been 14 long months of hoping and waiting for a forever home.  When you walk for Team Donald & Daisy, you walk to help us cover the cost of their continued care and to raise awareness that these two very special dogs desperately need a home.  Help us end their wait.

Team Coconut:  Coconut arrived at the shelter with a broken pelvis resulting from a hit by car injury.  The surgery to repair her injuries is $1,300. Please help us raise the money for little Coconut by walking on her behalf this year.

Team Fozzie Bear:  Fozzie has been waiting several months for his forever home.  Fozzie suffers from epilepsy which we are treating him for.  Although he gets along well with other animals, he has been overlooked time and time again.  Help us cover the cost of Fozzie's medcial and general care...and help us spread the word that Fozzie needs a home.

Team Deeno:  Deeno is 9 years old, and he has waited for a real home for the majority of his life.  He now waits with us after spending several years at another shelter.  Deeno is set in his ways, not a big fan of men but certainly loves the ladies.  But regardless of his particular nature and the arthritis that plagues his hips, Deeno deserves to find a forever home to live out his years.  Deeno deserves a chance.  Walk for Team Deeno this year and raise awareness that he too needs a home.

Team Jethro: Jethro is an 8 year old Fox Hound suffering from Heartworm Disease. You can walk for Jethro this year to help us raise the $300 needed to cover the cost of the treatment required to save his life.

Team JoJo: Just 1 year old, JoJo arrived with heartworm disease--which is deadly if left untreated.  This sweet pit bull loves everyone...he loves life.  He lives to love his humans and we hope that this year, you will walk for JoJo and help us raise the $300 needed to cover the cost of his heartworm treatment and help us find a foster (and hopefully permanent) home where he can begin his recovery.

Team Nala: Nala is such a gentle soul. Kind and loving, but she is in pain. She has a serious case of hip dysplasia which will cost approximately $1,000 to treat. She has her entire life ahead of her and is destined to complete someone's family. You can help us give her that wonderful life. Please consider walking for Team Nala!

Team Peyton:  We receive a lot of animals who suffer from separation anxiety.  Once they reach our shelter, they've often been shuffled from home to home never knowing the consistency and safety that comes with a permanent home.  Peyton is one of those dogs.  He probably has one of the worst cases of separation anxiety we have ever seen.  And although this is treatable and workable, it does take time, often months, to really get under control.  For this reason, we have been unable to find the right home for Peyton.  He patiently waits for that person to come along who has the time, patience and know-how to help him heal.  When you walk for Peyton this year, you will walk to give him hope and encouragement that we believe in him.  We will not give up on him.

Team Sequoia:  Sequoia is breath-takingly gorgeous.  A 3 year old Husky/Lab mix with a heart as big as her bat ears, we sit amazed that she has not yet found a home.  She does have a torn ACL for which we are trying to raise $800 to have repaired.  We do need a foster home where she can recovery peacefully outside the stress of a noisy kennel.  Walk for Sequoia and help us raise the money for her surgery as well as foster (and hopefully permanent) home where she can begin her recovery.

Team Dino: Dino is a 6 year old Pit Bull who was surrendered with his sister, Anjil, almost a year ago when his owner decided to move without them due to breed restrictions. Anjil was fortunate to find her way into a loving home, but Dino is still patiently waiting. Walking for Dino means raising awareness that he needs a home and he needs a chance to show off his "sit", "down", "stay" and "speak" skills to a new family.

Team Zola:  It's hard to believe with a face like this that Zola will be celebrating (if you can call it that) her 1 year anniversary with us.  She arrived in June of 2008 as a stray and has since won all of our hearts.  She plays well with the other kitties in our community cat room but isn't a big fan of little people poking or trying to hold her.  Help raise awareness that Zola needs a home and would rather be celebrating the arrival into her forever home this June, not spending 1 year at the shelter.
