Admission is $5 to taste chili – children under 10 are free. Each paid admission gets 5 voting tickets for the People’s Choice Chili. Site opens to public and tasting begins at 12:00 noon.

CASI Chili Cooking Rules:
 
bullet CASI Rules Apply
bullet Chili must be cooked on site from scratch.
bullet All meat must meet USDA approved and no home canned items may be used
bullet No fillers: no beans, no pasta, etc.
bullet One chili per cook
bullet Maintain sanitized cooking area
bullet Judging of chili is based on: Aroma, Consistency, Color, Taste, and After Taste
bullet Must be 18 year old to enter CASI

All meat must be USDA approved and no home-canned items may be used.
ALL CHILI & SALSA MUST BE PREPARED & COOKED ON SITE!
 


CASI *

The Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) is the sanctioning entity for this category. By entering this category, your chili must meet CASI require-ments. No Fillers in Chili (beans, pasta, corn, rice, etc.). Trophies awarded to top 10 places. For more information, visit the CASI website at www.chili.org.

ANYTHING GOES *

This category is open to anyone who wants to show off his/her culinary skills. This is an open-class that has no restrictions on ingredients.

SALSA *

This category is open to anyone that wants to enter. Cooks must be willing to taste their own salsa upon request. No home-canned items or store-bought salsa may be used.

JR’S DIVISION

Open only to participants 6-17 years of age. No restrictions on ingredients. Cooks must be willing to taste their own chili upon request. A parent must be present in the same cooking space. Parents may help only as needed for safety reasons (draining grease, lighting stove, etc). Children are to do their own cooking.

SHOWMANSHIP

This is a chance to show off your imagination, personality, acting and decorating skills. Teams and booths are judged on theme, costume, actions and au-dience appeal. If you are cooking CASI, and you are competing in show, you must enter CASI show. CASI awards trophies to the top 3 places.

PEOPLES CHOICE – CHILI

A minimum of 3 gallons of chili is required to be eligible for this category. This cook-off is open to the public and gives them an opportunity to taste the best chili in Indiana. Judging for this category will be by the public. Voting boxes will be provided.

Facilities and Misc

There are NO shelter areas available for cooking.
Cook-offs are held rain or shine so be prepared.


We will provide for each cook team

1-10’x10’ space
Judging cups/containers and labels*
Sample cups & spoons
People’s Choice voting boxes*
 


All participants are responsible to bring their own

Butane or Propane Stove (electric NOT available)
Utensils, pots/pans, etc.
Ingredients
Cooler (to store ingredients)
Canopy
Weights and Tie Downs
Tables & Chair
Decorations (if applicable)
 

* No other containers or labels may be used. The containers may not be tampered with or defaced in any way. Individuals who do so are subject to dis-qualification. No decorations or garnishes are permissible.

Dump and grease buckets will be provided.

NO DUMPING ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS.
