  Whitney

Permanently dressed head to toe for formal occasions. Hello... I'm Whitney, but don't let my proper attire or name fool you.
I am open to all kinds of fun and am hoping for a home where my obvious cuteness can be appreciated and enjoyed.

The occasional event where my outfit is needed is fine, as long as there is some caviar or salmon available to me. But I'm not picky. I am just looking for love, and apparently been looking in all the wrong places. Hey, wait, isn't that a song?!

I am 3 years old, already spayed, and ready to be your newest family member. I am FIV+ but as long as I stay an indoor cat and live only with other FIV+ cats, then it's perfectly fine and I can live a nice long life. (Humans and dogs can't get FIV by the way.) If it helps, I'll even throw on a cummerbund for you, but it has to be pink!

Schatze

“Celebrate endings – for they precede new beginnings.” ~ Jonathan Lockwood Huie
That's the attitude this 6-year-old girl has decided to take. We don't think Schatze has had a very stable life, although someone along the way was wise enough to have her spayed.
We know her last family had her for 3 years but nobody knows where she lived before that. This last family surrendered her because they were moving. Moving, schmoving.

But being the sweet and smart gal that she is, Schatze is not letting it get her down. She's one of the first ones to speak up when a visitor comes into the cattery. It's as if she's saying "Come see me! Talk to me! Hey, what's the weather like out there?" Wouldn't it be great if you were the special person she could schmooze with each day? Schatze is a big, very beautiful girl. Maybe a teensy bit too big - she needs to cut back on all the snacking. She would do best as an only cat (no dogs please) and most of all she would do best in a home that's stable. We think she has had her fill of seeing moving boxes.

I am Snowbella-- a stunning snow-white beauty who came to the shelter as a stray one year ago this month. I was very sick, painfully thin and had a broken tail. These nice people fixed me right up and now I am happy, healthy, and so ready to be in a home where I’ll be safe and loved…forever.

I am spayed and 7 years young which means I’m eligible for the PAWS Program!
I have also been chosen as one of the featured animals for the Humane Society’s 2011 Holiday Cards…aren’t I gorgeous!

My name is Miss Angel and I’m a 2 year old gorgeous Tabby who is FIV positive. I’ve been at the shelter since September 2011 hoping someone will look past those 3 letters and realize I can live a nice long life too as an indoor kitty. I just need to be your only cat or friends with other cats with FIV like me. I can’t wait to prove to some lucky human just how sweet I am!

I have also been chosen as one of the featured animals for the Humane Society’s 2011 Holiday Cards!

My name is Snowball and I'm a laid-back girl in search of a place to take a nap. That could be on a bed, a chair or... how about a warm lap?

I'd be comfortable anywhere, as long as I can be with you.

You may be wondering why my owners surrendered me to the shelter just because they were moving. I wouldn't take up much space in a new home. I'm confused because I'm gentle and sweet and I'd be happy to be anywhere that is quiet. I've been here since March and although they're very good to me, I truly want my own family to love.
My only fear is that of dogs! So I will do much better in a home without canines! Since I'm a considered a senior cat, (I'm 11 yrs. old) I qualify for the PAWS program. That means my adoption fee is at a reduced rate if you're 55 or older.
Callie~This darling girl was surrendered to our shelter because her owners said they didn't have enough time for her. Can you imagine that?

Callie says, "I didn't ask for much. I needed some food and water. An occasional pat on the head would be nice. I sure didn't know they would leave me here. How will I ever find love again?"

Callie's heart may be heavy, but fear not, she has not lost hope. She believes the right person is out there that was made just for her. Could that person be you?

Callie is 9 yrs. old, spayed and has all four feet declawed. She would do well in a home with a dog. But since she prefers a quiet setting, young children might be a bit too much for her. Please give this beautiful girl the chance to know love again.

  Meet Ben

If I'm purring too loudly, just give me a nudge. I'll stop for a few seconds. It just feels so good to be loved on. Besides purring, my hobbies include enjoying catnip, playing with string, plastic balls and mice....not real ones! I need to stay indoors because I am FIV+. That's not really as scary as it may sound. I don't need any special medicine or food. I'm only 3 yrs. old and with routine visits to the vet like any other cat, I should live a long life. It's not contagious to people or dogs or other kinds of animals. I am friendly with other cats, but if you want me to be with another cat, they need to be FIV+ too. I'd appreciate sleeping on a soft chair or bed and waking up to see the sunshine through the window. Won't you please take me home? I promise to love you all my life.

Popcorn :

Life is like an exciting movie;  make yourself some popcorn and enjoy the show!”- anonymous

Everyone loves Popcorn! Wouldn’t you like to have a little popcorn every day?

Meet Popcorn! I am a 2 year old male orange tabby with medium length hair. I came to HSHC on October 21, 2011 as a stray. I’m a very mellow fella and I can easily adapt to any type of home. At first I can be a little shy; but then I warm up quickly. Unlike regular popcorn I’m not buttery; instead I’m sweet, like kettle corn!

I enjoy play time too! Even though I have my claws, I am very gentle when I play. Playtime for me goes paw-in-paw with snuggling. After a little playtime I become quite the snuggler. I don’t mind being held and carried around (as long as I can get a neck rub). I can also be a bit of a gossip. That’s right! I love to talk to people and felines alike.

Studies show that petting a cat can help reduce stress and blood pressure. If you’re looking for a handsome purr-fect little man to add to your family; then I’m your guy.

  Fonzie:

Aaaaeeeyyy! It’s me Fonzie (a.k.a. The Fonze). Step into my office and I’ll tell you a little about myself.
I’m a 6 year old neutered male brown/orange tabby, with ALL 4 paws declawed, and gorgeous golden eyes. I’m quite the talker and I can often be found reaching out to passersby- looking for a little lovin’.

When I first arrived here at HSHC on August 19, 2011 I wasn’t feelin’ very groovy; in fact I was terribly ill and had an eye injury. After a month of excellent care I finally recovered and began the search for a forever home. As another month came and went I became sick again- homesick. Exactomundo, it’s true; The Fonze is a real people cat. I just crave human companionship. The second time round, the medical staff had to work extra hard to care for me. I lost several pounds and at one point they had to hand feed me. Now I’m feelin’ much better and I’m looking for a forever home.

Hey, I’m not the dreamer! I’m the dreamee; and I’m not your typical feline- I’m The Fonze so I dream big. My dream is to find loving family and home to call my own; a groovy place where I can spend Happy Days with you!

  Prudence

Hello, my name is Prudence and I am a pretty big deal around this shelter. I am one of the lucky office cats.
When they heard my name was “Prudence” they knew that by definition I had skill and good judgment in the use of resources and they just knew I needed to help in the office. I help them with making decisions, finding resources and I think I do a pretty good job. But the truth is, they just don’t pay me enough for all of my hard work. All of the love and attention is great but I’m ready to live in a home again.

I was brought to the shelter on September 1, 2011. I am already fixed. My previous owners said I didn’t always use the litter box as I should, but who knows? I think it’s just a rumor. I don’t think the office staff has noticed anything amiss, but if it’s true…with a little work, love, attention and patience I can do it. Ask the staff about Cat Attract! I am a little over 8 years old and I am front declawed. My previous owners had me for 8 years so I am just very confused as to why I am all of a sudden living here. I love the staff and I love that I get to help out and volunteer my time in the office but honestly I’m ready for a new bed and a new forever family. Please consider taking me home; maybe I can help in your home office!

  Ellie:

Once upon a time,
in the magical land of Noblesville;
there lived a beautiful princess named Ellie. . .

I am a 10 year old spayed female with unique black and white markings. Oh, and I’m also a princess. I’m a princess who has experienced many hardships and is currently dreaming of my happily ever after. I arrived here at HSHC on August 16, 2011 because my owners could no longer care for me. When I arrived I was underweight and missing some fur on my back. After working paw-and-hand with the medical staff, they discovered I was allergic to common ingredients in regular cat foods. Luckily, they found the perfect food for me- Science Diet Z/D food. Not only is this food hypoallergenic- it’s delicious!

I get along well with other cats and children of all ages. When I first meet a dog, I usually give them a little pat on the head; but then I tolerate them pretty well. I really get into playtime; sometimes I get a little rough and play bite. If you look closely, you may notice a slight cloudiness in one of my gorgeous green eyes. This is nothing serious and I can see quite well; the cloudiness is just the result of a healed injury.

Every end just means a new beginning; and I have so much love to give and I would love to share it with my forever family.

Are you my handsome prince, here to ride away with me into the sunset? Will you make my ‘Happily Ever After’ come true?

  Justice
“Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt

You would never know upon meeting me that I have suffered a great injustice. After 15 years of purrs and snuggles- my previous owners decided they didn’t have time for me anymore. This was how I came to find myself here on November 12, 2011 at HSHC in the loving hands of the cattery staff.

Oh, do forgive me; I’ve yet to formally introduce myself! My name is Justice and I am ever so pleased to make your acquaintance. I am a 15 year old, spayed female brown/black mackerel tabby, and I have ALL 4 of my paws declawed. I am first and foremost a lady. So despite the fact that my delicate sensibilities were upset (due to my sudden home displacement) I do not bear any grudges. My sweet and gentle personality can be seen in all I do. Yes, I am ready to put the past behind me and find a forever home in which to spend my golden years.

I enjoy the company of humans of all ages and my fellow felines; but I am very frightened of dogs. Due to this fear, I would prefer a forever family without any dogs. I’m quite the talker and would love to spend afternoons in your lap sharing the neighborhood gossip.

Are you willing to give a lovely little lady a second chance at happiness?

  Ellis
Once you choose hope, anything is possible.”-Christopher Reeve

Hope is something I have a lot of. I’m full of hope from my toes to my tail. I hope that I’ll find a forever family and that I will be able to spend lazy afternoons soaking up the sunshine in comfy windows.

I’m a 5 year old neutered male, with bright green eyes and a big personality (as well as a very sturdy physic). I’m also FIV+. FIV can’t pass to people or dogs, only other cats. Plus, with healthy diet and regular vaccinations, FIV cats can live long and healthy lives.

It all started a long time ago, back on February 3, 2011 when I came to HSHC with my brother Captain Tyler. When I first arrived I was quite ill. The medical staff discovered I had an umbilical hernia and an abdominal mass. After surgery to repair the hernia and remove the benign abdominal mass, I felt like a new cat! Since I was healthy, I was ready to be adopted!

Day-after-day I waited. I was always on my best behavior, putting my best paw forward, and being a perfect gentleman. Sadly, every day I was overlooked and passed by. It didn’t take long for me to become disheartened and depressed. The cattery staff and volunteers did their best to cheer me up; but I still became sick- homesick.

I’ve had many hardships, but I have a strong heart and spirit.

Hope is something that I am full of from my toes to my tail. Hopefully my fur-ever family will come in today, maybe it’s you!

  TIGGER BEE

“The Grandma Kitty”
I used to be quite the busy bee in my younger days, but now I’m 14 years old and I’ve slowed down quite a bit.
Now I enjoy resting, watching Wheel of Fortune every night and a good meal.

I’m what you call a good lap cat!

My story is a sad one. Much to my surprise my family surrendered me because they were moving. I guess they didn’t know I was more than happy to go with them. After all those years together and here I am, at a shelter. But I’ve not given up. I know there is someone out there who will want a calm, mature, spayed, front declawed, beautiful tabby girl.

I qualify for the PAWS program—if you are 55+!

  Toro

The naming of cats is a difficult matter. It isn’t just one of your holiday games. You may think at first I’m as a hatter, when I tell you a cat must have
three different names.
”~ T.S. Eliot

T.S. Eliot was correct in saying ‘cats have three different names.’ Around here I am known formally as Toro, but the staff also calls me ‘Little Lion’ and ‘Teddy Bear.’ I am a large front declawed 10 year old neutered male long-haired orange tabby. I was surrendered by my owners on August 15, 2011. When I first arrived here at HSHC I was a pretty rough and tumble guy; but thanks to the kindness and compassion of the cattery staff I have come a long way.

I came from a home where the children were too rough with me; so I would prefer a nice quiet forever home with no kids. I do tolerate other felines and I enjoy having my own personal space. I am quite attached to my things and sometimes it’s hard for me to share them; but I’m getting better every day.

Each morning I wait at the window for the HSHC staff to arrive so I can great them. I am very eager to find a forever home and I can often be found pawing at the windows and doors of the community cattery. Each day I hope and wish to find a kind and caring family to call my own.

Do you have room in your heart and home for a little lion?

  Captain Tyler

I don't worry about the storms, I am learning to sail my own ship.”
-Louisa May Alcott

Ahoy Matey! My name be Captain Tyler and ‘tis truly a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I know it may be strange to ye to find such a decorated sea captain here at HSHC; yet here I be- awaiting you. I’m a 3 year old male orange tabby cat and I am FIV+.

Avast me hearties, let me tell you a bit about FIV+ cats. FIV can’t pass to you or dogs, only other cats. Plus, with healthy diet and regular vaccinations, we FIV kitties can live long and healthy lives.

I have been here in the community cattery with other FIV+ landlubbers since April 2011. Since then, I have put on some weight, made some new feline friends, and become very healthy with the help of the medical staff here at HSHC. Arrr matey, don’t let my rank as Captain of the Cattery fool you, I’m really quite a sweetheart who simply adores attention- especially neck and ear rubs.

I’ve would love to retire as Captain of Cattery 2 and become the Captain of catnip in your home! Do you have room for a Captain in your family?

  PEANUT

“I’m a bit camera shy. That flashing light in my eyes is a bit disturbing, but get me out of this cage and I’ll show you what a lovely girl I am! I’m a 6 yr. old spayed tabby. And if you’re looking for someone that is already declawed, that would be me! There are so many cats here to choose from. The decision is a tough one. It’s my hope that you will take a few minutes to visit with me and I think you’ll decide to take me home. Dogs scare me, so I need a home that is dog-less. I haven’t been around other cats much, but I’m sure we could work that one out. Please, choose me.”

Peanut is healthy, adorable, and hopes that you'll pick her out of the crowd.

  Thumper

“Eating greens is a special treat. It makes long ears and great big feet. But it sure is awful stuff to eat”

As you can tell from my fluffy physique, I really enjoy cat treats. My name is Thumper. I’m a 7 year old neutered male tabby. I take my role as big brother very seriously; so when I arrived at HSHC I made sure to tell everyone my little sis and I couldn’t be separated.

We were abandoned by our previous owners when they moved. They just left us alone in the apartment when they moved. Needless to say we were both heartbroken to be abandoned so carelessly after so many years. After many snuggles and caring ear rubs from the cattery staff we are now ready to move on and find a forever home where we will be loved and cherished.

Being a good big brother to Bambi is a very important to me. I’ve been watching out for her since she was just a kitten. Keeping up with her keeps me active and playful. Sometimes I get a little rough and nip when I play; but I’m a pretty mellow guy with a terrific personality.

  Bambi

“Drip, drip, drop, Little April shower beating a tune as you fall all around. Drip, drip, drop, Little April shower What can compare to your beautiful sound?”

Well, I believe my purr has the most amazing sound. In fact, I believe that ballads should be written about it. My name is Bambi and I am a very gentle 2 year old spayed female calico.

I arrived here at HSHC on November 22, 2011 with my big brother Thumper.
I am very lucky to have such a loving big brother; he has always taken care of me and has kept me safe since I was a kitten. With fur as soft as the petals of the springtime flowers, and a sweet and loving purr-sonality; I am most assuredly the purr-fect lap cat! Some people would even go as far as to say that I’m quite the “deer”. Do you have room in your heart for a big hearted bunny and a sweet little
deer?

  Bubby

Bubby says, “Make sure you take a look at my tail. No one knows for sure what happened to it, but darn, if it isn’t cute!”

Bubby’s tail is short, but he’s not short on showing affection.
He loves to have his long white fur combed while he sits on your lap. Did I mention he loves to sit on laps? Not only that, he’s known to stay there until you put him down.

Bubby is 8 yrs. old and while that’s just middle age for cats, he’s pretty laid back. He’d be a perfect friend for apartment living. All he needs is a soft place to lay his head….like maybe your lap. Oops! I already told you that.

All joking aside, Bubby is a wonderful boy who would add joy to anyone’s home. Please take a moment and visit with him today.
Clara Bear - "You are young at any age if you are planning for tomorrow." ~ Author unknown

I'm certainly planning for tomorrow, with you I hope!
I was surrendered to the shelter at the age of 13 because I'm a cat and, being a cat, I clean myself, which can cause me to have hairballs. Yes, that's really why I'm here - hairballs. Brushing me regularly may help with that. To be honest, I would love the attention anyway.

So here I sit, litter box trained, already spayed, front declawed, with a sweet personality to boot! I can't promise there won't be any hairballs (I'm only feline) but I can promise if you take me home you'll be rewarded with purrs and affection every day of the year.
I qualify for the PAWS program. That means my adoption fee is at a reduced rate if you're 55 or older.
  Jimmy

Jimmy’s looking to find a forever home where he can do what he does best: nap! Lying in the sun would be one of his favorite pastimes.

Jimmy is neutered, healthy, FRONT DECLAWED and is 10 years old. He wanted to make sure I told you he’s just middle age for a cat and still has lots of love to share. Jimmy has an allergy to ceramic bowls so any other type of bowl will do.

He isn't looking for the glamorous life filled with kitty condos and designer cat toys --- a simple sunny spot on a warm carpet is fine. And spending time with one good family of people and maybe other cats --- well, that's the perfect retirement plan!

He doesn't ask much from life. Just some nice people to be gentle with him and a place he can finally call home….forever.
  Kiara:

“Cats are angels with whiskers. They are a refuge from the storms of life,
and they bring spirit to our homes.”

I would like to bring some purrfect peace to your home. My name is Kiara and I’m a 14 year old spayed female. When I first arrived on October 18, I didn’t do well with shelter life and quickly caught a cold.

In less than a day I became a favorite of the medical staff because I’m very sweet, quite the talker, and I give kisses. The medical staff has begun calling me Ki-Ki Angel. I’ve been very well-fed and could stand to lose a little weight, but other than that I am very healthy now and ready to come home with you. I can often be seen reaching out to passersby my cage asking for a little love and affection.

I’m not exactly sure how a sweet gal like me ended up here at HSHC, but I don’t hold any grudges. In fact, I’m ready to move and find a forever family to spend my golden years with. Don’t let my age fool you I still have plenty of spunk in my step and love in my heart. I need someone to take care of me and be my forever friend.

Are you looking to add a furry angel to your family?

  Scarlet:

“Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise. I must think of a new life, and I mustn’t give in.
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too; and a new day, will begin.”
-Cats the Musical

As the sunrises in a kaleidoscope of oranges, yellows, and of course reds; here I wait, in search of a wonderful family and home to call my own. Yes, I am in search of a new life; a cozy life indoors where I can be snuggled and pampered. Perhaps you are the family I’ve been waiting for?

I am a small 3 year old spayed female with medium black and white fur. I’m all dressed up in elegant formal wear with no place to go. I first arrived here at HSHC as a stray back on August 27, 2011.

You can’t be as gorgeous as I am without being a bit of a diva. I have a great attitude
and I’ve spent some time with my fellow felines in the community catteries.

Here is one gorgeous little gal, who would LOVE to be a permanent headliner at your house!

  Mrs. Potts
I'm a friendly 3 yr. old female black cat.
I must have belonged to somebody because I’m spayed, but I’m a little shy right now.

Maybe that’s because I was wandering the streets alone and didn’t have a human friend to care for me. I'm looking for someone who will be patient and go slowly to help build my confidence.

I’ve gained quite a bit of weight since my arrival and quite frankly, I’m a bit embarrassed. My fur suit is terribly snug and somewhat uncomfortable, so it’s of the utmost importance that I lose some weight. If I could just come to your house for some one-on-one exercise, I’m sure I would drop those pounds in no time.

I promise to do the best I can. Please consider taking me home today.

  TEDDY

Can you believe that this beautiful charcoal gray boy knew the hard life of a stray? Sad to think he had to fend for himself on the streets. What’s even harder to believe is that he loves people!

Teddy is a really cool guy with a million $ purr. He loves to get kisses on top of his head.

Teddy is about 5 yrs old and is neutered. He is FIV+ and is doing just fine. He doesn’t need special treatment. He just needs to go to the vet for regular checkups and routine vaccines.

Our boy Teddy is as soft and cuddly as a teddy bear, who wants a special friend to go home with today. Won’t you open your heart and home to TEDDY?

  Memeow

She hopes her name will catch your attention because she knows there are so many other cats to choose from.

Our little Memeow is an affectionate, sweet girl. She has lived with several other cats while staying here, but would love to have her own home with someone who will snuggle with her. She wouldn’t mind sharing those snuggles with another cat or two though.

Here’s another bit of information that is fun to know about her: Memeow loves to sleep in a covered cat bed. You know, the kind that sort of looks like a cave. She loves the dark and to hide in it’s quiet space.

Memeow is a healthy, DSH mix who is 5 yrs. old and spayed.
If you would consider her, she promises to thank you with a big kitty smile for taking care of a girl like her.

  Winnie

My sister Harriet and I were surrendered to the HSHC on May 31, ’11 because our owners had a baby. Good grief, we wouldn’t have hurt the baby. That old wives tale about cats suffocating babies always comes back to bite us in the tuchus. Now one positive thing about coming to the shelter is that Harriet and I no longer have to live together! We siblings get along like oil and water. But we will be just fine if we are adopted out separately! I am not too keen on other cats to be quite honest.

I’ve gained so much weight since I came here. There’s no gym or treadmill at the HSHC, so being able to run and play indoors in a home would help me lose some pounds. I’ll bet your place is just the right size for me to start my own exercise plan. One thing I can say about myself is that I am a very affectionate, cuddly type of cat. I even enjoy belly rubs! I really enjoy talking; nothing better than a cup of catnip tea and a nice long chat!

I’d prefer to live in a quiet home with adults where I can be the spoiled, beloved only pet. I’m 5 yrs. old, spayed and ready to come sit on your lap.

Harla
Holden

Harla and Holden:

Hello there. Our names are Harla and Holden. What is yours? We are both very friendly; in fact we are best friends. Forever.
We have shared a life together so the folks here understand that it is best that we begin our new phase in our forever home together; which is why they are letting us go as a pair at a reduced price.

We came into HSHC in June 2011 as strays. We used to have a home and someone that took good care of us. We were both already spayed and neutered when we arrived here. But somehow we got separated from our owners and that’s how we ended up here.
As you can see from our portraits, I, Harla am a beautiful dilute tortoiseshell, domestic medium hair female. I am 8 years old, while my pal, Holden is only 5 years old. He is a solid white domestic shorthair male. We are both current on all of our vaccinations and have been microchipped so we will never get separated from our home again.

We are already best friends. Now we are just looking for someone else to love and be best friends with. Is that someone you? We hope so!

  Neptune

I’m no stranger to HSHC. Nope, unfortunately I have been here before. I originally came here in February 2007, but luckily I didn’t have to stay here long because a nice lady adopted me. I am not sure of all the details, but somehow I got lost from my human. I knew I was much better off here than on the streets, so I came back in April 2011 as a stray.
I know the nice people here will give me my very best chance for a second chance… or would it be third chance with me? Who cares? Either way, I am sweet boy looking for a place to call my forever home. I’m a 4 year old domestic shorthair neutered male. As you can see, I have a very handsome orange and white bicolor coat.

I am FIV+, but don’t let that scare you. FIV cannot pass to you humans or dogs, only other cats. Plus, with a healthy diet and regular vaccinations, we FIV+ kitties can live long, healthy lives. We just can’t go outside. It’s dangerous out there. Besides, a man like me prefers a recliner to lounge around in over the great outdoors anyways. I’ve had more than my share of time outside on the street alone. I am ready to settle down with a family. Will you be my new family?
