Featured Cats:

Shelley is a 2 year old, spayed Tortie who is spayed and so ready to be with her family. She is a darling girl who is good with kids and even dogs….but she would prefer to be the only kitty in the home. Those big eyes are just gorgeous!

Claire is a 4 year old, spayed Calico with stunning eyes that match her coat. She has absolutely gorgeous markings…simply one of the most beautiful cats we’ve seen come through the shelter. She is good with people but she wants to be the only feline in the home. Claire would love to be the center of attention and is a professional lap cat. (References available upon request.)

Teacup

Teacup & Vanilla, Headlining at the Humane Society since August 2007! Shows daily!

Allow me to introduce our “sister act” Teacup and Vanilla. They have been getting rave reviews from the staff here at the shelter. These raven-haired DSH beauties are 2 years old, litter box trained and ready for their close-ups! Sadly, their previous engagement was canceled when their owner released them to the Humane Society. Apparently there were just too many animals in the house and no room for T & V. They are sisters from birth and best friends for life. It would be sad to split up the act, but they are willing to go solo if the right person comes along to let them “star” in a new home. If you have been looking for an ingénue to appear in your family movies, look no further than Teacup and Vanilla.

Kia

Kia & Rowdy, A Tale of Two Kitties

Rowdy  ADOPTED

Kia—and then there was one…

Though I’m very happy that my brother was adopted, I’m feeling a little sorry for myself. We came together to the shelter last July when our owner moved away. I had been looking after my little brother all this time—we get along so well.

Anyway he’s found a home and I think that’s great for him….. I wonder what he’s doing right now. Sitting in a patch of sun, sleeping on his human’s lap, or maybe he’s playing with some new toys?

It’s hard not to be jealous. Even though they treat me well here, it’s just not the same as being in a house with a family.

I just don’t understand why I haven’t been adopted yet. I am still a young lady (only 5) and I have been told that I am a very pretty feline. I certainly am a friendly sort of gal. There is lots of life left in this kitty-cat. Wouldn’t you like to take me home with you? I’ve already been spayed so I can go with you today!

Her buddy, Rowdy is also a DSH, but he is solid black. He’s been neutered and also has great litter box skills. He is a very friendly out-going cat with lots of personality. He’s devoted to Kia, but they have discussed what might happen if they are separated. It will be rough, but they are willing because they want a home so badly. Back in July 2007 their owner had to move so she surrendered the pair to the shelter. These owner-surrendered pets can just languish in their cage, becoming depressed and listless. It has helped that Kia and Rowdy have each other to keep their spirits up. It’s hard to explain to them that they were not bad cats, just unwanted ones. You won’t find a nicer couple to adopt. You’ll make their day if they can both go home with you!

Marlowe, The Gentle Soul of a Poet

The British poet Christopher Marlowe said it best when he wrote, “Who ever loved that loved not at first sight?”

Let’s hope that our 3 year old, DSH version of Marlowe will win your heart when you first catch sight of him! A sweet, gentle, friendly cat, Marlowe does not like mean cats. Some might say he’s a scaredy cat! His former grumpy roommate didn’t want to share space with him, so he was happy to move into his present studio apartment. But you can see by looking into his pretty pale yellow eyes that he is longing for a new home with someone who will cuddle him and scratch him under his chin. Are you in love yet?

  Happy New Year Tippy!

Like many of us, Tippy would like to shed a few pounds in 2008. Tippy’s previous owners allowed her to get extremely overweight.
When she arrived at the shelter tipping the scales at 18.2 lbs, we started her on a weight control diet…and we’re proud to say that she now weighs in at a svelte 14.9lbs!

Look at those jade green eyes and snowy white coat with a saddle of brown and black tiger stripes. You can see the super model just waiting to come out! An Ohio State fan, Tippy enjoys crawling inside the sweatshirt of a human Buckeye supporter and watching the game. Although she may be a little fearful at first, once she gets to know you, she’s a bona fide lap cat. Tippy is a youthful 6 years old and has been spayed and declawed. Please give this sweet girl a chance at a better home life than the one she had before.

Tippy qualifies for our P.A.W.S. Program - Partnering Animals With Seniors. If you are age 55 or older, please contact the shelter to find out how you can adopt Tippy for a $45 adoption fee.
Mrs. Ribbon—A Woman of Independent Means

This 2 year old orange tabby is feeling completely over-whelmed.
She was released to the shelter because her owner passed away and no one in the family wanted to take her in. Mrs. Ribbon has been very shy and insecure during her stay—we guess she is not all that happy with her accommodations. She loves to be petted but would prefer that she not be picked up. Mrs. Ribbon would like to find a human who will allow her to be a “career cat” with her own personal agenda. This is no clingy, mewling kitty-cat! She’s more the strong, independent type of gal. If you don’t need a “needy” cat, Mrs. Ribbon is the cat for you! She is spayed and will be taking interviews for humans during regular business hours.
  BROOKE—Looking for a tidy roommate!

Wanted: single, mature, individual (no children please) who appreciates a well organized, clean living space and values personal space.
This single, 5 year old, DLH Calico prefers someone who will pay attention only to her—at her stage in life she should not have to deal with rowdy kittens or slobbery dogs. She always keeps herself impecably groomed and takes pride in keeping her cage clean. She is a little shy, but also does not like to be “mauled”. Decorum is very important in this single ladies life. Brooke expects her roommate to behave in an equally civilized manner. Not a big fan of exercise, Brooke does not mind if the roommate participates; just don’t ask her to join in. Hobbies include grooming, sunbathing, looking regal, and playing chess. Inquiries should come through the H.S.H.C. Dogs need not apply.
Talia—What a darling little 3 yr. old Tabby! She has been lodging with us since June 07 and has never once complained. She gets along with everybody, cat & human alike. She’s been spayed and takes pride in her personal appearance. She would like for you to pay special attention to the little tufts on the points of her ears—they are her one vanity. Talia would make such a wonderful lap cat; won’t you give her yours?
My name is Juni—But I’m sweet all the other months too!

Juni is one of our senior citizens who is feeling much better now than when she was surrendered to the shelter. When Juni came to us back in September of 07, her owner was moving and no longer wanted her.
However, she also had dog bite wounds and a skin infection which had been neglected. Juni is 8 years old but she seemed to bounce back well after our loving care. You can’t even see where she was shaved anymore. Juni has snowy white fur with patches of orange, sort of a creamsicle of a kitty!

Since being with us, Juni has put on a little weight so she is now on “Lite” food. This girl does enjoy her meals—she was purring up a storm during her latest lunch.

Juni loves attention, but somehow she has been overlooked all these months. She can be shy and maybe that is why she’s not yet found her forever home. Won’t you let this little lady have some happy golden years on your lap. Remember dogs scare her!

Juni qualifies for our P.A.W.S. Program - Partnering Animals With Seniors. If you are age 55 or older, please contact the shelter to find out how you can adopt Juni for a $45 adoption fee.

Faith—She is hoping for a family!

You can get lost in the lovely emerald eyes of this pretty lady. Faith is a 4 year old tabby. She came to us as a stray in November ’07 and has been waiting very patiently for her new owner to come and get her. She has a golden brown face and tigerish black marks on her back. She has been spayed so she is ready to go home with you today! Everyone who knows Faith just loves her—she is an affectionate, sweet natured girl. She even seems to like other cats. She would just love to be curled up on your lap. We have faith that the right person will fall in love with Faith!

  Hail Caesar!

Caesar has been with us since November 2007 and he is still a man of mystery.
He arrived as a stray, but this is no ordinary traveling man. There is the air of royalty in his emerald green eyes, silky black and white coat and those distinctive markings on his face. Most people comment on his little white “eye brow” whiskers. Caesar is still holding back the story of his life before the shelter. He is more of a loner, preferring human company to that of animals. He enjoys attention, but takes a while to feel comfortable. He does seem to be a creature of habit; when it’s time to clean his cage he immediately jumps into his personalized carrier. No furtive escape plan for this guy—he’s happy to stay quietly at home. If you are attracted to the strong silent type, Caesar is your man, uh, cat!
In Latin, Sebastian means “venerable”-- a fitting name for this young man! He is a handsome DLH with orange and cream tabby markings. He is sweet and playful and can get a little rowdy—but hey, he’s just a year old! We all got a little silly when we were kids. Sebastian has been known to roll over on his back as if to say “Rub my belly please”. He has the reputation for being a nice gentle cat. He may not always like to be picked up and held, but he sure loves to be petted. The sad part of the story is that he has been adopted and returned 3 times. The reasons include “doesn’t like children” & “too active”. It’s enough to give a guy a complex! We can’t understand why he has not been adopted to his forever home, but we hope that the right person will see the qualities in Sebastian that make him such a good cat and will give him the respect that he deserves….plus a few belly rubs.
  Alicia—This is no Wonderland!

Alicia is a Latin derivation of Alice. And this little “Alice” feels like she fell down the rabbit hole! Where has she landed?! Alicia is one of our many cats who have been dropped off at the shelter because her owner was moving and didn’t want her anymore. She misses her family and is pretty confused about these strange, new surroundings. She is used to being an only cat, so all these new cats get on her nerves. But PEOPLE, now that’s another story. She is very affectionate, loves to be petted and is a purring machine! Alicia is a beautiful blend of grey tabby and white with pale green eyes. If you walk away from her, she will stick her paw through the bars and meow to get your attention. She will come right up to the cage door and beg you to play with her. If you would like to rescue this little girl from the Red Queen, she promises to be on her best behavior.

Because Alicia is 5 years old, she qualifies for our P.A.W.S. Program - Partnering Animals With Seniors. If you are age 55 or older, please contact the shelter to find out how you can adopt Alicia for a $45 adoption fee.

  Isaac—which means “He Laughs”

We’d like you to meet Isaac, a 6 year old tabby with a white chest. He is a very flexible guy and not in a yoga way.
He lived happily in a home for 6 years, getting along with dogs, cats and kids; but when a new baby arrived, Isaac was brought to the shelter and surrendered. He still can’t believe he lost the only home he ever knew. But Isaac can still laugh at his fate. He knows someone will come along and fall in love with him. He is a bit on the chubby side and requires special food due to crystals in his urine. But those are his only weaknesses. He’s been neutered so he can leave here today! He loves attention, and is a medal winning lap sitter.

Because Isaac is 6 years old, he qualifies for our P.A.W.S. Program - Partnering Animals With Seniors. If you are age 55 or older, please contact the shelter to find out how you can adopt Isaac for a $45 adoption fee.

  Rasta—Come to Jamaica Mon

Allow me to introduce you to Rasta, one laid-back kitty. She is not on daylight savings time; she’s on Island Time!
This is not a high energy, wild & crazy cat. She enjoys a more leisurely approach to life. When Rasta arrived at the shelter in January she was covered in mats—and thus earned her name from her many dreadlocks. Unfortunately she required extensive clipping to free her of these painful mats. Rasta’s been sensitive about her “bald spots” but at least they are beginning to grow in! Rasta certainly loves people—she will give you a hug with both front legs! This 3 year old DLH has silky soft black fur which she enjoys having brushed. She also loves clinging to your shoulder. The only things we know she is not too crazy about are other cats. We think this is because she doesn’t really know she is a cat! Since she has been spayed, she can come home with you today. If you also enjoy a relaxed pace in your life, Rasta would love to curl up on your lap and take a little snooze.
  Baron—a wallflower at heart

This sleepy-eyed boy has the stripes of a tiger, but the heart of a pussy-cat.
He arrived at the shelter in January and has been a little bit shy in his new surroundings. Once you get him out of his cage Baron loves the attention. He is exceptionally good at kneading your shoulder! He really enjoys being held and given love. I observed him to give kisses while being held. So we’re talkin’ Lovey-Dovey! Baron is about 2.5 years old and will be neutered once he is adopted. Who knows, once Baron goes to his forever home, he may drop his wallflower status and become a confident and powerful Wall Street Baron!
Vidalia—She’s a peach, not an onion!

This little sweetie is wishing for a family to come and take her home.
What a lovey, cuddly cat this 3 year old is! She came to us as a stray back in August and she would like you to know how worried she is about being here. She (and we) thought she’d be adopted by now. If you talk to her she comes right up for a head rub and ear scratch. We don’t want her to lose her outgoing per-sonality and charm, as often happens with long timers. Vidalia is just the perfect kitty for anyone. She is spayed and is ready to be your new lap cat.
  Vivacious Vivian

Who can resist a face like this? Vivian (Vivy to her friends) is just the best kind of friend to have.
She’s quiet and gentle, affectionate and fun to be with. She can keep a secret and she never holds a grudge. She was surrendered to the shelter just before Christmas and has never said a bad word about her former owner. She is 3 years old so she knows the ropes about living in a house. She is already spayed too! Vivian is a gorgeous Calico with a white bib and tummy. Please consider making friends with Vivy; you won’t regret it!

Rogue—This girl is not one of the X-men!

This pretty little black DSH has been given the short end of the stick.
She arrived at the shelter in November ’07 as an unwed mother. Sadly, all of her babies died. She has since been spayed. Rogue has been reluctant to open up and share her past, but it can’t have been an easy life. We figure she is about 4 years old. She takes a while to warm up to new people. Group therapy has shown her to be kind hearted with people but kind of grouchy around other cats. She would prefer to be an “only cat”. She loves to be held by the human beings at the shelter, so we know she would love to be adopted into a family who will give her time to learn to trust. Rogue can go home with you today.
  Rogan—Ready to Play!

This 2 year old boy is still a kitten at heart. Rogan came to us as a stray just before Christmas and has been rooming with his best friend Squeaka.
They get along famously since they are both pretty goofy. You can see that Rogan has a tiny wisp of white on his otherwise all black coat. We neutered him & that’s why he and Squeaka can live together. Rogan would love to go home to play with you and anyone else who lives there! Just make sure you’ve got plenty of cat toys.
  Zilla—Waiting Patiently…

This 4 year old DLH boy is looking for just the right person who will
appreciate his good looks, laid back personality and friendly outlook on life. Not a particularly lively guy, Zilla would look great draped over the back of the sofa. For a cat who has been neutered and staying with us since early November, he’s been pretty patient. If you would like to offer this gentleman a place to hang his hat, you can take him home with you today. Just remember to give him a nice place to plop down—preferably in the sun!
Baylor—A Jr. at Baylor University, working on his degree in C.U.T.E.

This 3 year old DSH male is such a sweet little boy.
His bright gold eyes sparkle and he just purrs and purrs. On taking him into my arms, he immediately began rubbing his face on my chin and nuzzling to get closer. He wanted my undivided attention and I was happy to give this little love-bug plenty of “face time”. Baylor must have left college on a road trip because he showed up at the shelter in January. He has adjusted well to his new dormitory and has had roommates come and go. He is puzzled as to why no one has offered him a scholarship to their home work/study program. He is ready to display all the skills he has mastered at school, such as: charming, meowing softly, reaching for things with his paw, rolling on his back, face nuzzling (straight A’s) and advanced kneading. He’s eager to learn new things. He has an interest in French cooking and Romance Languages. His transcript indicates he has been neutered and is ready to graduate from the shelter and move right in with you.
  Slick—Single and Looking!

This handsome “older man” has everything going for him except his current forwarding address.
He is a 7 year old, with short to medium hair that’s snowy white and coal black. Add his green eyes, pink nose and fabulous disposition and you have a contestant for “The Bachelor”. Slick was surrendered to the shelter but we cannot figure out why! He’s laid back, not the least bit aggressive, loves to be petted, has been declawed in front & neutered. He would make a wonderful lap cat.
We are sure there is someone out there who is looking for a cat with Slick’s qualifications.

Slick qualifies for the PAWS program so if you are 55 or older, he can go home with you today for $45.
Jared—“How about a staring contest? First one to blink adopts the other!”

Jared double dog dares you to spend some time with him and not fall in love.
This 4 year old DSH boy will talk your arm off just to get your attention. He can really carry on a conversation. He is a friendly, out-going fellow who likes to be in the center of all the action. Jared is a good looking guy, with orange tiger stripes and a fluffy white bib. He has been neutered so he is ready to take his stand-up act to your house.
If you like comedians, Jared is your man, well, cat!

Will— Ferrell or Smith?

Is he the zany, wild man type or the action hero type?
We’ll let you decide for yourself. Will is 3 years old and wears a B&W tuxedo every-day! He is friendly with people and other cats and has gorgeous green eyes & white whiskers. Will arrived as a stray, but since he is declawed in front, he must have been someone’s pet at one time. If you decide to adopt Will, let us know who you think he is more like….My money is on Will Smith!

  Willow—Wistful & Waiting

Though her expression seems to say, “No more pictures please!”
Willow is a lovely little girl! She has such a beautiful golden tabby coat with a snowy white bib. Her eyes are gold and it looks like she has brown eyeliner running from her eyes to her cheeks. But her best feature is her sweet nature. If you stop to chat with her she tries to squeeze right up to the bars of the cage so that you can rub her. She is just so happy and grateful for some attention that she’ll do her best to keep you there. She’s 3 years old and was surrendered to the shelter by her previous owner. Even though she doesn’t understand why she is here, she is waiting patiently for someone to come and take her home. She has been spayed and seems to be more than ready to pack her bags and move out. Will-ow you give her a second chance at happiness?
  Paws—He’s worth a pause & a visit!

Looking at him in this photo, you would never know that Paws was abandoned by his previous owner.
A neighbor rescued him and brought him to the shelter in early December. He had been out there alone for who knows how long. Though he’s 2 years old, he still loves to play. Spend a little time with this boy and you will hear a purring machine! Paws prefers to be an only cat and in return he will give you lots of kitty love. Check out his white lips, white bib, & white belly. He also has beautiful pale green eyes. If you are looking for a very nice boy to spoil and play with, Paws would be a terrific candidate.
  Keno—S.O.S.

This handsome 5 year old DSH, neutered male has been residing with us since August 2007.
And he’s sorely in need of a cat lover who would like to rescue him from the shelter. He’s been here so long that he is sometimes kind of “cranky”. He seems to get along fine with his roommate, but he does show signs of stress-- like sitting in the litter box and not coming to the front of the cage to visit. Perhaps he’s given up hope of ever seeing a patch of sun or walking on a carpeted floor. But we know there is a very patient person out there who knows cats and would love to take Keno home. Maybe it’s you?
  Bubby— Where’s the Pool?

The first thing everyone notices about Bubby is his eyes—they’re so big! But then again, everything about him is big.
This 3 year old DSH boy weighs in at 22 lbs. His amazing, almost human eyes are green and he has buff and white tabby markings. His owners surrendered him to the shelter because he scratched up some furniture. Hmmm, didn’t they know cats have claws?

Besides his charm & good looks, Bubby is known for his skill at opening doors and enjoying water sports. Currently, playing in a running faucet is his specialty, but he is signed up for water polo at the local YCCA. Bubby loves attention and being petted, but is not too crazy about being picked up. That’s a man for you. Bubby is being fostered at Northside Veterinary Hospital; he was a former patient and they love him so much that they wanted to keep him there until he goes home. If you love water and big sweet cats, this Bub’s for you!
  Biddie—An Itty Bitty sweetheart!

Have I got a cat for you! This 5 year old DSH came to us as a stray right before Christmas. Her former owner put a pink sparkly collar on her, but didn’t have the common sense to spay her. This little lady is definitely a lap cat. She enjoys being outside of her cage and loves to stretch her legs. She’ll be a perfect cat for sitting on the couch and reading or watching tv. If she can find a patch of sun in which to take a nap, that will make her so happy. Her lady-like pose reveals her very feminine side. Biddie would probably prefer older children and adults—she is a Senior you know. If you too are a senior, Biddie can be yours for $45.

  Freya, with the harlequin face!

This photo shows the amazing patterns of color on Freya’s face. She is a gorgeous 2 year old Tortie with loads of personality. Freya will cuddle and snuggle all you want but she is also a very playful young lady. During cleaning time in the cages, Freya will try and make a break for it. I figure she’s looking for a mirror to check her make-up. However, Freya is getting worried. She’s been here since September 07 and still no one has paid her any attention. Perhaps they have not really looked at her amazing multi-colored coat or experienced a cuddle from this sweet natured girl. She has already been spayed so that means she can come home with you today. Please give Freya a little time and I am sure she’ll win your heart.

Arthur Fonzerelli-- ehhhhhhhh call me Fonzie

I rode my cycle into this shelter back in December 07 and have been hangin’ out with all the cats since then. You can see I’m one good lookin’ guy, mostly black with a little bit of white on my chest. I have been around the block a few times; I’m 5 years old but I’m still a chick magnet. (They don’t need to know about that little neutering procedure I had done) As long as we’re talkin’ confidentially, I may look pretty tough, but I am really more like Richie Cunningham. I’m a little shy, but very well behaved and I just love to be sweet talked. I’m a softie, I admit it. Now, change is not one of my favorite things to deal with, but give me time and space and I’m a real cool cat!

If you remember the 50’s & 60’s like I do, jump in your ragtop and come on down to shoot the breeze. I’m only $45 bucks if you were born in 1953 or earlier. Ehhh what a deal!

  Colby “You talkin’ to me?”

This is one macho cat. He’s big, he’s “bad” and he’s ready to go! Colby’s owner surrendered him to the shelter back in early December and Colby still can’t figure out why after 2 years, suddenly allergies caused his owner to get rid of him.
Now we’re not talking “shy little pussy cat”. This guy is a man’s man uh, cat. He is 2 years old and neutered. He enjoys strutting his stuff, fly fishing, bowling and welding. Pet peeves include: grabby humans, pink on anything, baby talk and the fact that he’s been declawed on all 4 paws!
  Diego—The teacher

The name Diego has an early Greek meaning: “teaching”. This little grey DSH tabby boy could teach us all the value of hope. He came to us as a stray back in July of 07 and was adopted out while still a kitten.

Unfortunately his new family moved away and decided to leave Diego behind at the shelter. Through out his short but difficult life he has maintained his happy-go-lucky personality. He is very social and friendly with cats and people of all ages. Spend a little time with him and he’ll come right up to the cage for some chin rubbing. He will roll over on his back and show off his purring skills. You would never know he had to leave the comfortable home he lived in for 7 months and return to the shelter. He wears a perpetual smile. If only we could all learn from Diego & look optimistically at the future. Since he has been neutered, Diego can go home with you today! You can prove to him that good things happen to those who wait!

Dante—Does this photo make my feet look big?

Dante isn’t exactly a “dandy”, but he does like to make a good impression. Grooming is important to him. That’s not to say he’s a slave to fashion. He knows how to kick back and spread the litter around. You can see for yourself that Dante is a handsome orange tabby, but you may not know that he’s 2 years old, already neutered, great with roommates of the feline or human persuasion and is a laugh riot at parties. As a matter of fact, Dante was dropped off here at the shelter just after New Year’s Day, so he may have been out wandering the streets looking for his keys. He was wearing a tiny lampshade. So draw your own conclusions. We know that Dante would make a very good family pet due to his affectionate nature. He just requests that you show him lots of affection, time with a full length mirror occasionally and his own subscription to GQ.

He’s ready to adopt today!

  Penelope
“Come up & see me sometime!”

You can see by her “come hither” look that Penelope is a femme fatale. She is a 3 year old DSH with a luxurious tabby & white coat. A little history: Penelope was a stray kitty until she was adopted by a family. She lived with them for one year and then they decided that they had too many animals and Penelope was the one that had to go. She was surrendered to the shelter in early January 2008.

So it’s not too surprising that Penelope is a bit reserved at first; some might even say she’s shy. But she gets along with all of the cats she has roomed with. She is very laid back and easy going, as you can see in her photo—she may fall asleep any minute!

If you would like a low maintenance kitty companion for your existing cat or just a sweet heart to love and spoil, Penelope would be an excellent choice.

  Prince
(William or Charming: take your pick)

You probably didn’t know we had royalty staying with us, but this 1.5 year old DSH is certainly the closest thing to it. He earns his title everyday: in his kindness, his generosity of affection, his magnanimous treatment of those attending to his needs, and his acceptance of all felines living within his chamber. He is quite the handsome catch for those of you looking to find your Prince--silky soft black and white fur and amazing green eyes. His demeanor is always calm, relaxed and sweet. When the maids come to clean his chamber, he waits patiently upon the balcony and watches patiently. He never tries to interfere or leave the premises. Once the fresh bedding has been laid down for him, he will regally descend onto it and politely smile at the caretaker in thanks. Prince was surrendered to the shelter in January 08 by his owner—they were moving. It was reported that Prince is good with children. He would really enjoy resuming his duties as a lap cat. Because his “family jewels” have been removed, Prince is ready to reign over your house today. Please come pay your respects to Prince at your earliest convenience.

  Gideon—Let’s play

You can see that Gideon is holding a string in his paw, but what you can’t see are the wheels spinning in his head.
He’s always thinking of some new way to have a good time. This fun-loving 3 year old arrived as a stray in early December 07 & has been keeping us in stitches ever since. He is such a playful guy; you’d swear he was a kitten in cat clothing. We are not sure how Gideon does with other cats, but he sure loves to stick his front legs out to try to reach his next door neighbors. He’s a sweet boy and loves attention. But what really makes him tick is PLAYING! If you would like to bring a perpetual goof-ball into your family, then I think Gideon fits the bill.

  Grant the “Great”

In old English the name Grant means tall or great.
It’s a fitting name for this fellow. Doesn’t he look like he’s smiling in this picture? He is so happy to have anybody’s attention. He likes to be held and “loved on”; you can really hear him purr! His roommate Diego is his BFF; but sometimes he hogs the spotlight and Grant gets ignored. But how can you ignore this 2 year old orange tabby? He’s got such a handsome face! Grant came to us as a stray around Christmas Day 07.

He has seen a few of his fellow cats come and go and wishes that he too could find a new family. If you would like a great new member of the family, please consider Grant.
  Pisces—An equal opportunity friend

What a cute photo! Pisces seems to be enjoying spending time with her new friend. But when you spend a little time with this 3 year old DSH, you will see that she makes friends with everyone she meets. Pisces has been so happy since she moved into the community room where she can hang out with other cat buddies. She’s outgoing and sweet natured. Pisces loves to be held and stroked; she begins to purr immediately. Some cats are stand-offish but this little girl is a social butterfly. She has made some good friends in the community room. I watched Kia grooming Pisces and she appeared to relax against Kia’s side. She has a golden and brown coat with a bit of white on her chin & neck. She will readily stretch her neck so that you can rub her little chin. Pisces was found in a garage and came to the shelter in February. And even though she is happy to be here in the community room, we know she is longing to go home with someone asap.

  Kenya—I’ve been framed!

In Russian, Kenya means “innocent”.
If you talk to this petite B & W domestic short hair, she will tell you that she was innocently roaming around Noblesville, looking for food when she was picked up & brought into the shelter as a stray. This was back in October 07 and she is really tired of being behind bars. Granted, she’s very fond of her cellmate Angela (you can see her hiding behind the more outgoing Kenya) but she is ready to break out of jail and start a new life. She tried to get an attorney to represent her, but she didn’t have phone privileges. Kenya is a very affectionate, friendly girl who loves attention during visiting hours. She loves to be held and cuddled with. This 5 year old girl has already been spayed, so she can come home with you today. She promises she’ll never roam the streets again!

Kenya qualifies for the PAWS program. If you are over 55, she is yours for $45.
Angela—Be an angel & adopt me!

This 2 year old Dilute Tortoiseshell DSH girl is so beautiful. Her photo shows the lovely blending of gray and buff in her coat. Angela arrived as a stray back in November 07 and moved in with her roommate Kenya. She is fine with sharing her room and enjoys spending time with other cats. She is however, still a bit shy with strangers. She prefers to let Kenya go out to greet the visitors first. But give her time to warm up she just loves attention and petting. She has already been spayed so she can go home with you today.

Six months is long enough for Angela to figure out she wants to find her forever family. Please don’t make her wait much longer!

  Sylva—on Match.com

As you can see by my profile photo, I am a petite, single DSH, only 2 years old searching for Mr. or Ms. Right. I
have a dilute tortoiseshell coat and (I’ve been told) amazing green eyes. I prefer to be exclusive in my relationships (no other cats please). I admit I am a little jealous of sharing my space with another feline. I have been searching since January 08 for my perfect match, but I don’t want to settle for just any old human. I need “chemistry”! Pet peeves include: other cats, having to share cat toys, a dirty litter box, and cold drafts. Hobbies are: playing with catnip toys, grooming, hide & seek, and afternoon naps. If this sounds like a match to you, please contact HSHC and ask for Sylva.

Tinkie—A Lady in Distress

This beautiful snowy white DSH has had a very traumatic life.
She came to us as a stray late one February night. Her left rear leg was very severely injured—it was a deep bite wound. With medicine and care, Tinkie began to recover from her injury, but she was frightened and shy. Today, Tinkie walks with a limp, but given the severity of the bite, she is lucky to have survived. If you visit her now, she will come to the front of her cage and ask for a head rub. She is gradually gaining confidence and becoming more social. She is 4 years old and not yet spayed. Who knows what kind of life she led before coming here? Because she experienced such a bad bite, she will be much happier in a “dog-less” home. I fell in love with her green eyes, pink nose and deep throated purr. She’ll make someone a very sweet companion.

Midnight…..“at the oasis”

Pardon the pun, but this is her favorite song “send your camel to bed”.
Anyway, Midnight wants you to know that she never cared for her name so she likes to goof around with it. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owners due to allergies, after living with them for a year. She is 3 years old and has been spayed. You can see she’s a stunning DLH with hypnotic yellow eyes. Midnight is used to being with other cats and children and she likes them just fine. But dogs are another story. They just drive her nuts. So she’s looking for a home with cats and kids, but no pooch! By the way, she also likes “Till the Midnight Hour”, “After Midnight”, and the musical “Cats”.
